DAY 01 / UJUNG PANDANG ARRIVAL

On arrival we are driven into the interior of South Sulawesi with its unique culture and ancient traditions. This nearly 200 mile journey takes you through Bugis Villages with their typical houses on stilts and over magnificent mountain passes. Arrive in Rantepao in the late afternoon. Transfer to your hotel for dinner and overnight accommodation.

DAY 02 / TORAJA LAND

The Torajan are known for their grand burial ceremonies and cliffs of hanging graves. Funerals are a great fiesta and buffaloes are sacrificed in the final ceremony, after which the deceased's remains are placed in a coffin and entered in caves hollowed out in high cliffs. The mouth of the cave is guarded by life-like statues, looking out from a "balcony". The Torajas believe that their forefathers descended from heaven on to a mountain some twenty generations ago. Their unique culture is based on animistic beliefs. To see these beliefs you will visit the hanging caves of Lemo, one can enter the stone caves to see the old coffins and their contents. The ancestor cult practiced here promotes death and after life ceremonies as great feasts. Continue onto Suaya, site of the Seven Kings and an afternoon to visit the traditional villages of Marante and Nanggala to see fantastic examples of Toraja architecture .

DAY 03 / PALAWA EXCURSION

Visit a classic example of a village on a small hill. Its "Tongkonan" or burial place with celebrations and festivals are open to visitors who must bring a token present. Continue to Sa'dan to see traditional weaving. Proceed to Siguntu known for its family compound and Kete Kesu, a traditional village known for its handicrafts. The famous hanging caves are close by and should there be any ceremonies in progress we are welcome to participate.

DAY 04 / TORAJA LAND DEPARTURE

Return to Ujung Pandang today, enjoying lunch enroute. Later we board our flight for our onward journey.

Day 02 / JAYAPURA/WAMENA

Transfer to the a irport for yor flight to Wamena, located in the heart of Baliem Valley. Do not be suprised if you are welcomed by Dani Tribesmen in their traditional garb. Visit the local market where the Dani tribes sell thei goods, the hanging bridge at Sinaima and the nearby Dani villages.

DAY 03 / WAMENA/JIWIKA

Your fullday tour takes you to the villages of Aikinua and Suroba where you can chat and have tea with the local tribesman. Lunch will be prepared by your chief. This afternoon visit the 350 year old mummy in Sumpaima village.

DAY 04 / JIWIKA/WAMENA

Witness the traditional way of making salt by the local tribal women. This afternoon continue onto Wagawaga village and Kontilola Stonecave. Return to Wamena late this afternoon.

DAY 05 / WAMENA/JAYAPURA

Return to Wamena this afternoon. Visit the local museum, Crocodile farm and Mac'Arthur's Beach and the local market.

DAY 06 / JAYAPURA DEPARTURE

Indonesian Borneo brings to mind the legendary tropical island famed for its headhunters, white Rajahs, dense tropical rainforest, exotic fauna and mysterious unexplored caves. In Kalimantan, the Mahakam River leads to traditional villages of the local Dayak people, where visitors are givent he opportunity to explore the culture and rituals of these ancient tribes.

DAY 01 / JAKARTA/BALIKPAPAN

Your journey begins to Kalimantan, the Indonesian side of Borneo. Despite exploration and development, many areas of Kalimantan remain untouched by the Western world. In Balikpapan you will be transferred to Loa Janan. The Mahakam River is the main transportation artery to East Kalimantan. Dinner and overnight will be spent on the houseboat.

DAY 02 / MUARA MUNTAI/TANJUNG ISUY

Once head hunters, the Dayaks have their own unique culture and customs. Death is the major event of Dayak life while birth and marriage are comparatively inconsequential. In Muara Muntai you will experience the traditional lifestyle of the Dayak People and visit the local floating market. From Muara Muntai you will continue to Jantur fisherman's village at Jempat Lake and Tanjung Isuy, home of the Dayak Benuag. A traditional tribal dance will be performed in front of the lamin (Dayak Traditional Longhouse).

DAY 03 / TANJUNG ISUY/TENGGARONG

Tanjung Isuy, a beautiful Benuag Dayak Village is a popular place to view longhouses and traditional Dayak life. This morning you will begin your journey downstream. You see sunrise at fairyland and visit Lake Semayang.

DAY 04 / TENGGARONG/BALIKPAPAN

Today you will visit the former palace of the Sultan of Kutai (now a museum). During the Sultan's rule, Dayak tribes presented gifts to the Sultan in recognition of his sovereignty. Some of the gifts on display today include hand carved detailed canoes, huge dragon gong a magnificent Chinese ceramic collection, elaborate beadwork and a beautifully carved Dayak totem pole. This afternoon return to Balikpapan.

DAY 05 / BALIKPAPAN/JAKARTA

This morning after breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport for your onward destination.

DAY 01 / VIENTIANE ARRIVEL

Meet upon arrival at Wattay Airport, Vientiane and transfer to your hotel. Situated on the banks of the mighty Mekong River, Vientiane, the country's capital, is a quiet town of less than half a million people. The highlights of your afternoon tour includes the Luang Stupa, the most impressive stupa in Vientiane with a central stone structure of over 30 meters high. Wat Sisaket, built in 1818 by King Chao Anou is the oldest temple in Vientiane with 6800 images of Buddha.

DAY 02 / VIENTIANE / LUANG PRABANG

Only 45 minutes flight north of Vientiane, Luang Prabang is located at the confluence of the Mekong and Nam Khan Rivers. The spiritual capital of Laos, it was also the former seat of government and location of the Royal Palace which is now a museum. On arrival, visit the weaving village of Ban Panom before checking in at your hotel.

DAY 03 / PAK OU CAVES

Journey up the Mekong River to the Pak Ou Caves where some of the most famous Buddhist sculpture in South East Asia is found. This remarkable cave, a sacred site contains thousands of statues of Buddha. Another cave shelters a huge Buddha weighing several tons. Enjoy a picnic at the caves before returning to your hotel.

DAY 04 / LUANG PRABANG / VIENTIANE

This morning visit the Central Market and then on to the former palace of the Lao Kings which is now a museum open to the public. In the afternoon board your return flight to Vientiane.

DAY 05 / VIENTIANE DEPARTURE

This morning visit the major attractions of the Laos capital including the revolutiionary Museum, this distinctive pink building houses a collection of artifacts; paintings, drums, and photographs depicting the history of the People's Revolution in 1973 and Anousavari Monument, situated along one of the city's major boulevards, the monument has a wonderful painted ceiling. The monument is dedicated to all those who died in the years before the revolution. Late afternoon transfer to the airport for your departure flight.

DAY 01 / PHNOM PENN ARRIVEL

A afternoon flight to Phnom Pehn where you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Capital of Cambodia, Phnom Pehn is a vibrant, bustling citty nestled majestically on the banks where three mighty rivers, the Mekong, the Tonle Sap and the Bassac, converge and then split apart again..This afternoon sightseeing includes the Golgen and Silver Pagoda. Inside the grounds of the Royal Palace, the Silver Pagoda gets it's name from the 5000 tiles of pure silver which decorate the floor. In addition the Buddha of the Pagoda is made from solid gold and decorated with over 9000 diamonds.

DAY 02 / PHNOM PENN / SIEM REAP

Since the ousting of Pol Pot regime, many aspects of Khmer cultural life have revived. Explorations of this mysterious land begin with the intricately carved Khmer ruins at Angkor Wat and surrounding sites-one of the world's most impressive ruins. Angkor Wat is the largest temple complex in the world, a marvel of art and architecture, both Hindu and Buddhist. The grandeur of this ancient civilization is truly astounding. See Angkor Thom, more colossal Angkor Wat, as it had nearly disappeared into the jungle. Picturesque ta Prohm (baphoun) remains overgrown, an oddly haunting and exotic scene. Various ruin sites complete our tour of these rock skeletons - mute testimony to the once mighty Khmer civilization.

DAY 03 / SIEM REAP

Our explorations continue at Prah Ko and Lolei. The discovery of jungle-strangled ruins and their reclamation in early 1900's by French archaeologists was perhaps a mixed blessing, only to be plundered and left in their current state of impressive semi-ruin; the remains were further damaged by Khmer Rouge in the 1960s.

DAY 04 / SIEM REAP / PHNOM PENH
DEPARTURE

Transfer to the airport for your flight back to Phnom Penh for your connecting flight.
