HISTORICAL SPLENDOR AT CHIJMES

A splendid final evening can be spent in the neo-classical chapel of the former Convent of the Holy Infant Jesus (CHIJ), which is undoubtedly the grand centrepiece of the famous girls school’s original site. Built in 1902, the chapel was the fulfilment of a dream of the founder of the school - Rev. Father Jean-Marie Beurel. The Gothic-styled architecture, with 19th century stained glass depicting biblical scenes, was a tribute to the Gothic revival in Europe. Stand at the main portal and imbibe the breathtaking grandeur of its vaulted ceiling, Corinthian columns and arcades, as well as the magnificent stained glass windows. Guests are ushered into the grounds by the sounds of the bagpipes. Mingle around in the Garden Lawn, admiring the labour of love that has been put into restoring the buildings, while strains of a string quartet harmonise with the tinkling fountains and clink of champagne glasses. At the chimes of the church bells, guests will be invited into the CHIJMES Hall for a sumptuous dinner spread of their choice. Throughout the evening, appropriate recorded music will fill the hall. As the evening draws to a close, near the serving of dessert, the chamber group from the Singapore Symphony Orchestra will present to your guests a repertoire which will be the highlight of the evening.

Sun, Sea and Surf

The beach is an important part of the Singaporean lifestyle. It is the stage not only for swimming and sunbathing, but also for fun and crazy beach parties. To “break the ice” for your guests and to help them unwind, we will create the beach extravaganza of the year!

Transfer from the hotel by air-conditioned coaches and/or ferry to a beach, either in Singapore or on one of the nearby Indonesian islands. There, a windsurfing race, canoe race or a game of volleyball will be arranged. For the less energetic, a gentle time can be passed sunbathing, swimming or relaxing by the beach.

Dinner will be a barbeque set in the exotic atmosphere of a sailing club. After dinner, it is time for dancing or limbo-rock with the help of a mobile disco. This fun festivity will serve to break the ice and get the group together. At the end, your guests will feel at home in Singapore and be prepared and relaxed for all the excitement (and any meetings) that are in store for them during the rest of the programme.

CONSIDERATIONS

There is no “protection” in case of heavy rain. However, the beach party could be rescheduled relatively quickly during the group’s stay.

ENHANCEMENTS

  1. Beach towels commemorative of the event.
  2. Have specially inscribed winners’ medals made for the various contests.
