| “PAINTED FACES”….. |
|
The Peking Opera is a pure Chinese opera form, which dates back to the year 1790. The roles in Peking Opera include male and female roles, painted-faces and clowns. Legends and stories from history make up the repertoire.
For the painted role, the different colors of the faces represent different characters and personality. Yellow and white represents cunning, red stands for uprightness and loyalty, black means valor and wisdom, blue and green indicate the vigorous and enterprising character of rebellious heroes and gold and silver represent mystic or super-natural powers.
Witness scenes behind the preparation of an opera. Watch how the actors/actresses faces are carefully painted to signify their roles. Forget the stories of five-hour operas with high-pitched voices! The Peking Opera is a skillful spectacle of acrobats, tumbling, high dramas, stunning costumes and occasional singing. The actors are so full of energy and expressions that leave you wanting more !
This is just a small sample of the variety, which China has to offer as a venue. If you are planning a Conference/Meeting or Convention in the coming months, fax / email us for your free copy of CONVENTION & CORPORATE MEETING PLANNER.
