DAY 01 / LOS ANGELES DEPARTURE
Your exciting journey begins as you board your Singapore Airlines 747
wide-bodied jet for the flight across the Pacific to the Orient. Delicious
meals are served inflight.
DAY 02 / TAIPEI ARRIVAL
pYou will be met upon arrival in Taipei, the capital of llha Formosa Island-
Taiwan. Our Taiwanese guide will help us with formalities and it is off to
the hotel to relax after the long flight. Tonight your tour of Taipei
includes a Mongolian Bar-B-Q, a Chinese Opera and a visit to the Night
Market (Hagglers Market). Lessons on Buddhist and Taoist philosophy
available !
DAY 03 / TAIPEI
This morning visit Martyr's Shrine, National Palace Museum, where ancient
Chinese Art treasures are exhibited, the Presidential Mansion and other
government offices and one of the oldest Buddhist temples with its
exquisite stone sculptures and wood carvings.
DAY 04 / TAIPEI/KUALA LUMPUR
Arrive in Kuala Lumpur. Discover the exciting landmarks of the city. View
the splendor of the King's Palace. Share the glorious historical past at the
National Museum with its countless exhibits. Visit the National Monument and
view the impressive Parliament House. Proceed to the beautiful National
Mosque with its majestic domes where Muslims worship every Friday. In the
evening, wander and test your bargaining skills at a quaint local promenade;
Petaling Street or better known as "Chinatown". Then dine at a local
restaurant reknown for the Malay cuisine and enjoy a cultural show.
DAY 05 / KUALA LUMPUR
This delightful educational tour shows you the rural scenery of Kuala Lumpur
as well as providing an insight on some of the main industries of the
country. See the interesting tapping of rubber trees and collecting of
latex. Visit the pewterware demonstration center and the batik factory. Next
stop at the Batu Caves with its magnificent limestone and numerous in-built
temples. Proceed to the city passing tin mines.
DAY 06 / KUALA LUMPUR/JAKARTA
At leisure until your transfer in the afternoon to the airport for your
flight to Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia. Upon your arrival, you will be
met and transferred to your hotel. Afternoon orientation of the city.
DAY 07 / JAKARTA/JOGJAKARTA
Depart Jakarta and transfer to the airport for your flight to the cultural
center of Jogjakarta. Met upon arrival and transfer to your hotel. The
remainder of the day free for your own activities. BY the way, shopping
specialty are silverware and batik!
DAY 08 / JOGJAKARTA
Today you will visit the city and the world famous Borobudur Buddhist temple built in the 8th century with 504 Buddha statues. The smaller temples of Mendut, which houses the statues of Buddha and Pawon will also be visited enroute.
MON: DAY 09 / JOGJAKARTA/DENPASAR
Depart Jogjakarta for Denpasar, Bali. Meet upon arrival and transfer to your hotel.
DAY 10 / DENPASAR
Full day Kintamani Volcano Tour visiting gold and silverworks, woodcarving, Balinese paintings, Goa Gajah (elephant cave) and the holy springs of Tirta Empul at Tampaksiring. Lunch enroute. This evening enjoy a trip to a nearby village to see the Ketchak (monkey) dance.
DAY 11 / DENPASAR/BANGKOK
At leisure until your transfer to the airport for your flight to Bangkok. Bangkok, the capital of the fabled Kingdom of Siam (modern day Thailand). A culture more than 1300 years old, its temples and palaces are a fantasy in store, a land with natural beauty and a people whose ingenious friendliness is a legend. Upon your arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel.
DAY 12 / BANGKOK
This morning visit the Grand Palace with its elaborate Thai-style architecture. The Grand Palace enclosure was the symbolic and ceremonial heart of the kingdom. Visit the Wat Phra Keo, the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, the towers of the Planets and the Great Throne Hall of the Chakri kings.
DAY 13 / BANGKOK
Early morning excursion-motorboat ride to the famous floating marketsalong the Chao Phya River and canals. Visit Wat Arun, the Temple of the Dawn and see the Royal Ceremonial Barges on the return. This evening you will be served a savory Thai dinner, followed by a program of classical Siamese dance.
DAY 14 / BANGKOK/CHIANG MAI
Morning is free to enjoy a leisurely breakfast or more of the fantastic sights of Bangkok on our own. Later we fly to Chiang Mai, considered to be the Shangri-La of Northern Thailand, and a wonderful contrast to Bangkok. It is the center for handicraft production and home to the artisans of the hill tribes artifacts. This evening we feast at a Khantoke Dinner with authentic traditional performances featuring tribes from throughout the region.
DAY 15 / CHIANG MAI
A delightfully different experience awaits today as we visit an elephant camp north of Chiang Mai. Watch the elephants take their daily bath in the nearby stream, then see a demonstration of the unique skills required for clearing the forests and hauling tree trunks to the rivers. Then, climbing aboard our elephant taxis, we ride through the spectacular natural beauty of the northern Thai countryside to lush Mae Sa Valley where we enjoy lunch amid this picturesque and tranquil setting.
DAY 16 / CHIANG MAI/HONG KONG
Depart Chiang Mai for Hong Kong.Hong Kong ! The name alone sets the mind alight with visions of pirates and traders, of mystery and treasures won and lost. Countless words have been written about Hong Kong, the city, her profile of present and past who have sought their fortunes. A Chinese junk on the harbor, the "Taipan" in his Rolls Royce, the Chinese shipping magnate, the tailored suit all are visions which can become reality for the modern sightseer. This small British Colony has a magic and fascination that attracts visitors to return again and again. Upon arrival at the airport, you will be met and transferred to your hotel.
DAY 17 / HONG KONG
Morning orientation tour of the island and city of Hong Kong. Ascend Victoria Peak for spectacular views of the city and countryside. Visit Repulse Bay and Aberdeen fishing village. This evening enjoy a special farewell dinner at "Revolving 66 Restaurant". After dinner we will bring you to visit the famous night market. On the return journey, enjoy the glittering harbor view by night with your favorite after dinner drink.
DAY 18 / HONG KONG DEPARTURE
Transfer to the airport for your departure flight back to the United States.
