The buffet style meal will be served from wooden stalls, each featuring a unique specialty including sushi and soba noodles. Dinner at Historical Temple

There is no more Japanese setting for your reception than the historic and traditional architecture of an ancient temple.
Several temples and old historic buildings in Kyoto, many registered as National Treasures or as part of the World Heritage, offer their grounds for cultural exchange receptions.
You can promise your guests a Japanese experience that they won't forget within the dignified air of tradition of an ancient temple.

Party Plan 1: Reception within temple buildings

The temple buildings that stage your reception will not only be spaces to enjoy your meal, but also offer the opportunity for a close-up look at their refined interiors.

The melodic strains of the koto zither and rhythms of the taiko drums will set the quiet atmosphere for the pre-dinner cocktail party. The rooms themselves will be decorated with the artistic displays of traditional flower arrangements. It is also possible to experience the tea ceremony before the festivities begin. The tea ceremony has a 450 year history beginning with the first master Sen Rikyu, and it strongly influenced mid-period Japanese Buddhist architecture. The harmony of the refined interiors of the temple and the tea
ceremony is a unique experience not available anywhere else and is sure to be a memorable part of any visit to Japan.

Moving to the dinner room, you can enjoy watching the chefs demonstrate their master techniques preparing the food while the lit-up temple garden is visible in the background. Entertainment such as Japanese drums, classical dance or a
cello performance will help liven the atmosphere.

Party Plan 2: Garden party at an ancient temple

Gardens are just as important to the cultural heritage of temples as the buildings. Depending on the number of guests, you can use the gardens at certain temples for parties as well.

Before the reception begins, you can enjoy a performance of the traditional theater Noh within the temple building. The performance can be enhanced by a demonstration beforehand introducing the masks and instruments as well as an explanation of the play to be performed.

As the sun sets, the gardens will close to the public and the lights will come on for your own private party. As dinner begins, you can enjoy the views of trees reflected in the pond or the large buildings shining against the dark sky.

The buffet dinner will include both Japanese and Western dishes, and wooden stalls serving fresh sushi and soba noodles will add a lighter, fun touch to the atmosphere.

Temple Receptions

Reservations are available for groups of 50 or more. Arrangements will be made with the temple depending on the number of guests, budget, type of reception and schedule.
For garden parties, alternate plans will made in case of rain.

The estimated budget, including decorations, private viewing of the temple, lighting, dinner and attractions, is around \47,000 per person for a party of 180pax.

In the past, receptions have been held at Kiyomizu Temple, To-ji Temple, Tenryu-ji Temple, Ninna-ji Temple (all of which have been registered as World Heritage sites), Shokoku-ji
Temple and Kodai-ji Temple.

*The temples introduced in the above, are sacred places for their religious activities and are to be used by their special courtesy for such events as in this case. Therefore, your
understanding is solicited in advance that it may be infeasible to designate some particular one(s).
