by visiting the Bund, the busy Nanjing Road, Jade Buddha
Temple -built in 1882 covering and area of 8,000 square
meters, the temple got its name from the two jade statues of
Sakyamuni, one seated and one reclining, both brought from
Myanmar. The seated one is 1.9 meters tall and was carved
out of a single piece of white jade weighing one ton and
inlaid with dazzling jewels. The temple also houses a number
of ancient sculptures and Buddhist scriptures and Yu Garden
offering 40 scenic attractions with intricate designs
complete with beautiful pavilions, miniature lakes, bridges
and rocks winding through the Old Town of Shanghai. At the
