Here is how I may a day tour for your Incentive Program - BALI
Imagine, your participants arriving by horse-drawn carriages to their dinner venue... As the guests arrive, local villagers, arriving in fishing boats playing festive music, surprising the guests!
At the temple where the Kechak (Balinese drama) performance is held, school children dressed like angels, escort the participants to the temple performance arena.
The evening concludes as the guests witness a colossal Kechak ritual during dinner. 2000 performers, sitting around a large burning torch, depict the battle of Prince Rama versus the evil King Ravana, and the rescue of Princess Sita, who has been kidnapped by King Ravana.
The choruses of men provide the orchestral accompaniment with complex and varied chants that accompany their swaying movements. The only music to accompany them are the beats of their palms hitting their chests, their thighs, or their claps. Flickering torches provide lighting and an enchanting atmosphere.

A hand-pulled rickshaw, at its basics, is essentially a seating compartment mounted between two large wheels. A runner holding two long poles extending back to the rickshawÕs body pulls the vehicle.
While the concept of a passenger being pulled by a runner might seem somewhat primitive, the rickshaw was a vast improvement over sedan chairs, which had to be lifted and carried by two men. Over the years the rickshaws have become more sophisticated. This sophistication can be seen in the bicycle-powered trishaws Ð first seen on the streets of China in the 1850Õs.
All 50 of them will be at the starting line. Playing loud music ranging from the 50s to the 90s depending on your mood and fancy. Once the music starts, the two teams are off racing at speeds as fast as 15 miles per hour! This is a novel way to see the back alleys of Beijing!
Off the narrow alleyways, a single door leads to a courtyard around which several families live a traditional lifestyle. Pedal along the hutongs and visit a private home, a kindergarten and take in the air filled with sweet and spicy aromas where noisy locals shop!

Nagamachi was a samurai district located at the foothills of the former Kanazawa Castle, where samurai and their families used to reside. The area preserves a historic atmosphere with its remaining samurai residences. Earthen walls, private entrance gates, narrow lanes and water reinforce the scenic and historic dwellings. Kanazawa was a prosperous town - the elegance of Nomura House, another famous samurai dwelling, attesting to this.
Traditionally houses are generally low-built and narrow because dwellings were once taxed according to their street frontage. But the intricate blue-tiled roofs of the samurai villas rise high above their garden walls, their interiors as sumptuous as they are spacious.
Experience an encounter with a samurai master in the use of an authentic sword. The Mugai-ryu Iado, school of drawing swords, was founded during the 17th century Edo Period by master swordsman and Zen practitioner Sukemochi Gettan. Conclude your adventure of a lifetime with your own name engraved in a smurai sword from your master !
For spouses, learn to dye and paint on silk kimonos. Perhaps wear a Kimono while you sight-see in Kananzawa! This is the only place where you can actually learn and participate in the technique of painting kimonos.

As your participants are shuttled in by rickshaws along the candlelit
Hutong, the evening resembles a scene out of a fairytale as they approaches
The Forbidden City.
In ancient times, the emperor led processions with some 1,000 eunuchs,
Courters, generals and ministers to meet with foreign heads of state.
Tonight for your welcome dinner / cocktail to China, your waitresses are
Dressed in full court regalia including elaborate headdress. They will
Greet you as you enter the Forbidden City with the evening's dinner
Prepared by chefs taught by Empress Dowager's cooks !
Cocktails are held at the Rostrum, the exact spot where the Republic of
China was proclaimed by Chairman Mao. Acrobats and jugglers add to the excitement, accompanied by Chinese musicians bringing strange yet fascinating sounds to the venue.
Witness excerpts from Puccini's score "Turandot" performed by the National
Opera with the plot occurring in the Forbidden City. Welcome to China !

Here is how I map a day tour for your Incentive Program - Thailand
Indisputably the best event is the daily procession, at the rise of dawn, saffron-robed monks hold their brass begging bowls for the morning tithes. Numbering more than 300, the monks rang in age from age eight at the front to more than 80 years old at the rear. They trudge barefoot in single file, past the kneeling denizens of Bangkok City, who fill the bowls with sticky rice. You too can do your good deed for the day by participating in this alms giving!
But the monks do not survive on rice alone and you need not either! An hour from Bangkok is the Ayuthaya Elephant Camp. Stop at the camp for an elephant ride and enjoy the opportunity to visit the ruins of the famous temples and historic city.
On the way back to the city, you can pull in at the villages and see handmade mulberry paper drying outside, women weaving their silk looms and men making Thai clay pots called celadon.
Make your last stop with breathtaking views of the city as the spires of its wats catch the last rays of the setting sun for your Welcome Cocktail Party. Look carefully at your drinks - semi precious stones are freezed in cubes of ice and served in them ! This is always the hit of the incentive trip for Thailand.

Here is how I map a day tour for your Incentive Program - HONG KONG
Hong Kong is a restaurant city and dim sum, which refers to a variety of light dishes like dumplings, is a city staple that can be enjoyed at any time in this 24-hour city. It's most commonly taken as a mid-morning meal.
Our last incentive movement to Hong Kong, we had arranged for a typical breakfast at Maxim's in Wan Chai. It is one of the few places where dim sum is still served by aging trolley dollies. Flag them down as they trundle past; point, eat and enjoy. It is worth a visit for the atmosphere and harbor backdrop as much as the food.
Round up the morning with a Ò"lightseeing" tour of the city and Victoria Harbor from the air where the pilot will point out the major city landmarks like Central Hong Kong and Hong Kong's main commercial and financial district. Buildings like the Bank of China Tower, the Standard Chartered Bank and Hong Kong & Shanghai Bank. Learn why the site is known in feng shui's terms as "a dragon's den".

Rewards and recognition leave a lasting imprint with people. With consumers tightening their pocketbooks, one might say that cash/gift cards are the best motivator. Ultimately this might not be the best for the company. An unforgettable trip is far more internalized (by the winners) than cash.

In 1933, James Hilton wrote a captivating story of a remote settlement high up in the mountains of Tibet, titled "LOST HORIZON". It described a world of enchanted pavilions perched between the mountains and fertile Blue Moon Valley.
So vivid was Hilton's description, the name of the place outgrew the original story. "SHANGRI-LA" stands as a synonym for paradise.
On the banks of the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok, the Shangri-La is everything you expect of a hotel. ÒPacifiedÓ rather than dominated by its single tremendous idea - service... there is no place for your next INCENTIVE / CORPORATE MEETING except the Shangri-La in Bangkok, Thailand.

To stay in a Shukubo is an adventure of a lifetime ! A Shukubo in the simplest of terms means temple accommodation. The level of comfort in a temple, or more accurately in its shukubo, is aimed more at the inner being than at the material world.
Most will offer evening meals as well as breakfast with Buddhist menu offerings as standard fare.
Many of the temple lodgings, permit those staying at the facility to enter end experience their morning rituals. Spiritual training can include Zen style meditation, calligraphy and even cleansing the soul by offering your all in cleaning practices, writing or chanting sutras, and other routine Buddhist methods of training.
Instead of practicing soul cleansing you can experience an encounter with a Bushido Master in the use of an authentic sword, another proud Japanese tradition. Mugai-ryu Iado, a school of the art of drawing swords was founded during the 17th century Edo Genroku Period by master swordsman and Zen practitioner Sukemochi Gettan. Christopher Columbus landed near the port of Limon, Costa Rica on his forth trip across the Atlantic Ocean and claimed this territory for Spain.
Where he landed he saw that the natives were wearing bountiful gold jewelry and living amid lush vegetation, giving reason to the place he called Costa Rica - "Coast of Plenty" or "Rich Coast".
Since its independence from Spain, Costa Rica has had a tradition of peace making it know as the "Switzerland of Central of America". This is the only country in the world that has no army!
GTB has been contracted by Mannatech Inc. to organize their Top Achievers Club-Incentive Trip to Costa Rica for 2009.
This is not the first time that GTB was requested by our repeat clients to handle their incentive programs our of our core areas.
This is our second incentive program into Costa Rice with the last one being in 2005.

Breaking Away from Tradition
As an established International DMC who has executed successful incentive/meeting programs with a track record,
I am qualified to say that to succeed through tough times like these, there is a need to break away from tradition to create new ideas and approaches.
Here is a small sample:
A 1:15 senior management to participant ratio, you invest in relationship building experience based on your rewards/incentive programs.
Creating the perfect opportunity to bulk up and gain market share!
Rewards and recognition leave a lasting imprint with people. With consumers tightening their pocketbooks, one might say that cash/gift cards are the best motivator. Ultimately this might not be the best for the company. An unforgettable trip is far more internalized (by the winners) than cash.
Yes, maintaining the same per-capita spending to keep within budgets is the mantra, but part of the magic in achieving outstanding results requires
participants to have an adventure of a lifetime that they cannot obtain by themselves. This must be planned better than the previous year as to maintain and increase the interest of all participants.

The Commune, Beijing
Walk through the oldest district of Beijing where its stores used to supply the imperial palace from shoes in summer,
to winter boots, papers for writing to ink, as well as tiles for the imperial palace! The Liulichang Cultural District
is more than thousands of years old. Now it is noted for antiques, jewelry, ceramics, paintings and books. West of the
street is Rongbaozhai Studio, famous for its woodblock printing and reproductions of traditional Chinese paintings.
Wander down a hutong called Qianmenxiheyan Jie, an alleyway only accessible by foot.
Discover the oldest existing opera house in Beijing. This temple/theatre was originally a traditional imperial
wooden temple built 300 years ago. The theatre is described as a, "complete living fossil in Chinese architectural history" in the Chinese Encyclopedia.
Activities start here with a modern adaptation of the "Monkey King" story performed in English. Ghaffar paints his face and costumes on stage while telling the story.
Then you will see the story come alive with an element of audience participation to add to the experience.
This will be followed by pieces from two more traditional opera's, 'The White Snake' and 'Farewell to My Concubine'.
Drive out to the Badaling section of the Great Wall, framed by the dramatic twists and turns of the remarkable Great Wall itself.
Stop at the Commune for lunch. The Commune is a private collection of contemporary architecture. Originally designed by 12 Asian architects as a
showcase for edgy Chinese architecture, with the Great Wall serving as stunning backdrop, the Commune undoubtedly becomes the most remarkable location in China! Have LUNCH here right by the Great Wall!

Adventures of a Lifetime
As I write this piece, the world economy is in a flux. But if there is anything that my background in international business and political science has taught me, it is that everything is cyclical.
My company, GTB Destination Management, is one of the most creative DMCs for Asia and the Far East. We plan on exceeding your expectations and business objectives through our eyes. This is evident in our commitment to offering your participants an adventure of a lifetime!
Here is a small sample of our imaginative ideas for Thailand:
- Buffalo Race - The dust has barely settled on the paddy field, with it's flat worn surface. Suddenly, out of a crowd of villages, a line of water buffalo comes thundering through the thick air. Atop each one is your employee-frantically coaxing his beast towards a makeshift finishing line 100 meters down the field.
- Elephant Polo - Mount a regal pachyderm for a game of polo! Trained mahouts, experts at the game, guide your participants and instruct how to handle the elephants. The game is divided into 2 chuckas or halves, each lasting seven minutes with a 15-minute break.
- Corporate Branding - Take a jeepney ride through the thoroughfares of Bangkok in the evening to the night market. Each jeepney will have your corporate logo painted on its side!
This is just a small sample of exclusive ideas that we offer. For additional
Information on how we can offer you an adventure of a lifetime go to the Resources link.

I hope that you will be inspired and I look forward to welcoming you to Thailand. I look forward to continuing to make a difference in the world in 2009 And beyond.

Stylish Group Activities
As we all know that these are challenging times for everybody. The strength of the MICE Industry is its focus on reward, education and sharing of knowledge that continues EVEN WHEN TIMES ARE TOUGH.
When the climate becomes more competitive, smart businesses know that there is a need to maintain investment in their people if they want to increase productivity, raise staff morale and position themselves for the next growth cycle. Conferences, business meetings and incentive programs will deliver these outcomes.
Here is a sample of how we intend to offer your participants intelligent and authentic insight into the rich culture of each of our destinations and in the process raising the bar!
Malaysia - During the medieval period the wealthy sultans were the only people who could afford to keep and fly the birds, and thus falconry became known as "the sport of kings." The Falconer thoroughly explains to the guests how the Falcons are trained and shares various useful tips on hunting. A flying exhibition is then offered as the Falcon pursues a live prey.
Thailand - Morning hot-air balloon rides allow guests to take in the sunrise and panoramic views of mountains and rice fields followed by champagne breakfast on temple grounds.
China - Personalized pedicab ride with company logo for corporate branding through the old alleyways of Beijing called hutongs.

Interactive Participation
Through interactive participation, guided by authoritative art and culture experts, activities with GTB are designed to offer our guests intelligent and authentic insight into the rich culture of each of our destinations, at the same time putting them in touch with the everyday lives of the people in the city. Here is a small sample:
Foot Reflexology
The ancient healing art of reflexology has been known to man for many thousands of years, beginning with the early Indians, Chinese and Egyptians. It is based on the principle that congestion or tension in any part of the foot mirrors in a corresponding part of the body, thus reflexology can be used to restore and maintain the body’s natural equilibrium and encourage healing. Available daily, participants learn the major “trigger points” while enjoying a 60 minute treatment.
Meet in the Forbidden City
It is now possible to have your meetings big or small in the Forbidden City. Yes, in the Forbidden City itself! From Western Coffee breaks to the ancient Imperial Style of Tea Breaks, we can make arrangements to have your meetings in the Forbidden City.

INDIA “WOW FACTORS”
India’s many faces – the festivals, the bazaars, the weddings, the costumes, the dances are quite impossible to experience on a short visit.
This is why we re-create the kaleidoscopic experience of India for you in a variety of traditional welcomes and theme dinners. Here is a sample of our “WOW FACTORS”.
On arrival at the hotel, the entire driveway is lined with caparisoned elephants and camels. Elephants with trunks raised in salute accompany guests who are taken in royal carriages or on elephant’s backs to the hotel. A band of musicians and horsemen precede the procession amidst showers of rose petals whilst valets drape each lady with a “duppata” (shawl) and the men are greeted with garlands.
As you enter the hotel’s lobby, they will perform the “Arti” ceremony. They anoint your forehead with the traditional Indian Red “Tikka”.
All delegates are transported to the palace by camels. The camel caravans are escorted by two torch bearers to each cart. Local musicians will lead the camel caravan through the cobbled streets and villages. The group will be timed to arrive at the palace gates at sunset. On arrival they are received by the village elders in full local attire showering the group with rose petals. On entering the palace a huge floral company logo will be carved out on the floor. After cocktails, proceed to the Dubar Hall for a cultural evening extravaganza. The ambience created goes back to 600 years when the king and his lieutenants would sit on the cushioned floor and the dancers would perform.
This is just a sample of the many hidden gems, old palaces and magnificent forts we will open exclusively for your participants.

ICE HOUSE
Given the remorselessness of its wrecking crews, Beijing should not, by right, be blessed with so enduring a structure as the Icehouse. But then the Icehouse is no ordinary structure. With 1.2m thick walls and access through a twentry meter tunnel, it is more of a bunker – shouldering wars and revolutions, building booms and bulldozers. Lying in the shadow of the Forbidden City, the Icehouse is today the Chinese capital's best jazz and blues club. But it gets it name from the fact that it held ice for the imperial family's exclusive use during the Qing Dynasty.
Every winter, ice was collected from the city moat at Dongzhimen and hauled to the Icehouse, filling the 400 square-meter interior. The walls were sufficiently impervious to the elements for the ice to remain there, unthawed, all year round. Once only consecrated to the pleasures of the privileged, the Icehouse is now enjoyed by many. It is simply no longer a place to cool off. Instead, weekend nights are smoking hot - thanks to the smoldering licks of resident jazz bands. Customers whistle, whoop, and clap in cocktail-fuelled bonhomie as the band turns up the heat, making the sounds of bulldozing that seem to accompany every waking hour in modern day Beijing seem far away! Welcome to Beijing 2007!
This is just a sample of stylish activity the GTB can arrange for your China Incentive/Special Even. Visit the Icehouse on our Site Visit to China.

SHANGHAI ALLEYS
Shanghai, which means, “above the sea”, is located on the Huang Pu River in China. Beneath the glitz and glamour of Shanghai’s skyscrapers and majestic colonial buildings, lies some of the most traditional Shanghainese residences known as longtang (alleys) that still teem with daily life.
Children play noisily under washing lines, watched over by grandparents seated at doorways in wicker chairs, while other adults going about their daily business. In the morning, groups practicing tai chi gather at the courtyard to go through their paces. These alley homes are known as shikumen. Within the compounds are three-storey dwellings built in the mid 19th century, their wooden doors are framed by stone gates.
Built by foreign companies to house a sudden influx of Chinese into Shanghai, the houses meld Chinese and Western architectural influences. Each house was built for a single family. But when the communist government took over, more families were squeezed into these buildings during the 1950s and 60s, resulting in several families sharing bathrooms and kitchens. As the city modernized, these old neighborhoods were demolished.
This is just a sample of a stylish activity that GTB can arrange for your China Incentive.
Walk through the labyrinth of compounds and meet a Shanghainese family. And if time permits take in a performance of folk music or tai chi demonstration in our SITE Inspection to China.

COTTON CLUB JAZZ
It looks like your friendly neighborhood music club that would fit in just as well in Santa Cruz. No cover charge, just a one drink minimum.
Inside pictures of jazz and blues greats line the wall. The house band plays in front of a stained glass backdrop and candles provide the only illumination. The singer is a big African American with dreads, the guitarist a suitably large Caucasian, though the drummer, bassist, and fiddler are small, Chinese men. It is marvelous, slow blues. You sip your whisky-neat and completely lose your sense of China.
While the band takes a break, a tiny shy Chinese girl replaces Big Black. She is so shy that she pulls the top of her black turtle-neck up the lower half of her face, pulls her hands into her sleeves and stands there cowering while the band warms up. You wonder whether this is going to be a disaster.
When the little girl opens her mouth, a stunning Ella Fitzgerald voice comes out, powerful and deep, with a strong African American accent. She moves her body with passion, swaying in front of the microphone; leaning back she tosses her head. Her mouth amazingly wide, “I don’t got… I don’t got… I don’t got no more loving’ to go rou-ou-ound.” In the pauses between verses she abandons the stage and hides behind the partition, coming out only to sing. During intermission, you notice that she smokes like a chimney and speaks English with a very Chinese accent. Welcome to Shanghai 2005!
This is just a sample of stylish activity that GTB can arrange for your China Incentive. Enjoy a visit to the Cotton Club on our SITE VISIT to China.

China - Feasting at Tong's Table
Young men and women sing to each other ululating in typical high-pitched tribal style, shamelessly expressing their love. Local girls invite visitors to dance with them, hand in hand, hands on shoulders. They dance and sing in circles. Pieces of cake are handed around and the visitor whom the cake reaches when the song stops can pick a girl as his wife. The man and the girl must exchange gifts and the village will later prepare a wedding banquet for them. It is make-believe, but the whole scene is made to seem as real as possible.ä Young girls in sherbet colored costumes offering wine greet visitors at the entrance to the village.Ê Scores of musicians play ethnic musical instruments to hundreds of dances and singers.
GTB has been contracted by Nature’s Sunshine Products Inc to organize their 2006 Top Achievers Club-Incentive Trip to Lijiang, located in the Yunnan Province, Peopleâs Republic of China.
Listed as World Heritage by Unesco, Lijiang is a small town laced with canals, bridges, streams, and cobblestone lanes.Ê Grey-tiled roofs of residential houses line up along the river. It provides many opportunities to observe the traditional way of life. A typical house has two stories and is made of stone and wood. A row of three main rooms on the ground floor faces south and is flanked on each side by a row of three rooms projecting at a right angle and opening inward to form a sort of front courtyard hidden from public view by a wall in front.Ê Streams flow through the streets of Lijiang, filled with all types and sizes of goldfishes. Houses are built according to the flow of the water deriving from the Black Dragon Pond, created from the melting snow water from the Yulong Mountain.
The simple sense of blending harmony with nature and the rich content of culture are of great intrigue and value ö steps on an individual must take to awaken his/her spirit in Chinaâs Middle Kingdom!

Herbs & Medicine-man
In China, an overwhelming majority of its 1.3 billion citizens believe essential and traditional truths about nutrition and healing. They practice century old traditions with the aid of herbalists who sell their goods through neighborhood shops.
In fact, visiting a Chinese pharmacy in China is much like inside a miniature museum of natural science. Tucked away in row after row of tidy drawers are animal, plant, and mineral products, each with a particular purpose. Among the assortment of curiosities is amber, to relax the nerves; peach pits and safflower, to improve blood circulation; mahuang to induce perspiration; ginseng to strengthen cardiac function.
The filling of a prescription ordered by a Chinese doctor is a fascinating process to watch. The pharmacist selects a few particular ingredients from the hundreds on his shelf. The patient takes them home and boils them into a soup to drink. Confronted with such a steaming brew, you might ask yourself just what is the basis of this ancient medical art. In Chinese medical thinking, illness is only the manifestation of an imbalance that exists in the entire person.
Attend lectures by experts and doctors on Chinese herbs and acupuncture. Hold an open discussion. Receive sample treatment. Advises and prescriptions of traditional medicines will be given to individuals by the doctors.
This is just a sample of stylish activity that GTB can arrange for you and your clients.

China's singing hill tribes
Kunming, capital of the Yunnan province, is a subtropical city often termed as "the city of eternal spring" because of its temperate weather and perpetually blooming flowers. Kunming is rich in history including that of the Burma Road, where in World War II fame, the US Air Force's Flying Tigers were based.
During lunch, groups of singing tribes people come around each table, clapping and singing, ululating in typical high-pitched tribal style it is quite an earsplitting yet stirring experience. The troop moves from table to table, giving everyone drink of their homebrewed wine. An intoxicating encounter indeed!
The groups are different yet similar in so many ways. As one moves from village to village within the larger compound, ferried by trams, one's eye is constantly caught by colorful shiny costumes of different sorts.
It also lies in their looks. At the Bai village, the fair-skinned people with their soft silk outfits, their residences with upturned eaves, courtyards, and pagodas stand in stark contrast. The Bai art of tea culture is considered the most refined among the minority nationalities, and it is enchanting to watch.
And over at the Hani village, the predominance of a farming heritage is felt in all elements of song, dance, and building styles.
Stocky, swarthy young men and sun kissed young women show off by reaching heart-stopping heights on tall swings, creating ear-splitting musical notes by blowing on simple leaves, and skipping and shuffling to a tribal beat in the mother-son house.
This is just a sample of stylish off-site activity that GTB can arrange for you and your clients.

Parasols and Flowers
Chiang Mai, northern Thailand is also known as the handicraft center. It is famous for the handicrafts, exquisite silverwork, wooden carvings, and celadon potters as well as silk weaving, and not to forget the umbrellas. At Borsang, like most local handicrafts, only natural products are used in the making of umbrellas. A bamboo handle and spokes support a top made of mulberry paper, the production of which is a long and arduous craft of its own involving the pounding of mulberry bark into pulp, virtually dissolving it in a tank of water and finally collecting it on a fine mesh to dry. The hand painting of the umbrellas includes portraits of birds or flowers.
Dainty toy umbrellas make delightful room decorations, while giant umbrellas of five meters in diameter are beautiful parasols to shield off the fierce sun.
At Ban Tawai-Hang Dong, a short distance south of Chiang Mai one can view the wooden buddhas, animals, chests, alters, mystical creatures, and household implements of bygone days. Equally impressive are the techniques used to give these items the patina of age. Depending on the results desired, the wood is exposed to rain and wind, smeared with mud, immersed in caustic soda or urine, buried and seared with hot gas. Subtle effects are achieved through application of paint, oils, and varnish, while some pieces are artfully disfigured-a nick here, a gash there, thankfully many things have not changed in Chiang Mai.
The bells and chimes still make music at Buddhist temples. There are 36 bells and chimes within the old inner city and nearly 100 in the metropolitan area, each with the multi-tiered roofs, gracefully curved eaves and porticoes typical of the Lanna style of old Thailand.

Monks & Mansions
See a line of black pedicabs with red canopies at the park, their ringing bells could be heard everywhere. Starting from the vegetable and fruit market, ride in one of these into the deep alleys. In the past, princes', generals, and ministers were all housed within the courtyards around the outskirts of the Forbidden City. Linking up these courtyard houses were lanes and alleys called hutongs or quadrangles. The quadrangles varied in size and design according to the social status of the residents. Stop at a former prince's mansion in one of the hutongs.
This mansion is the most well preserved mansion in Beijing. Two stone lions guard the main gate and magnificent buildings stand to the fore of the mansion, with an elegant garden at the rear. On the wall of the main hall hangs a plaque inscribed with three characters "Bao Guang Shi" in the calligraphy. Waitresses in full court regalia, including elaborate headdress will greet you as you enter. Walking through a winding path surrounded by man-made hills on four sides are masterpieces of garden architecture, with more than 20 scenic spots leads us to a secluded back theater. This theater is lofty and spacious, with subtle lighting, and on its walls Chinese wisteria and green leaves are painted, giving the audience the feeling they are sitting beneath trellises. The floor is paved in pseudo-gold brick, and the seats consist of old-fashioned wooden armchairs furnished with square tables. The performers and the audience are in close proximity, so there is no need for audio amplifying equipment. Enjoy a private performance of martial arts by the famed Shaolin Monks breaking steel plates with their heads and the Peking Opera. Conclude the evening with dinner at the teahouse.

Flights of Fancy
Far from the noise of Bangkok, in the quiet culturally inspired northern city of Chiang Mai, is the chance of a unique experience. For this city has been chosen as the location for Thailand very first commercial hot-air balloon tours.
Thai balloonist, Khun Yuthakit, is Thailand first accredited balloon pilot, having trained in Shropshire, England. For him, the balloon flights are the fruition of a long-held dream. "Yes, its taken a while, but, you know, things take time in Thailand." he says with a big smile and a slight British accent. The silent aerial journey starts at dawn at the Floraville Balloon Club and takes passengers drifting over the rice paddies and villages for approximately 90 minutes. The midst slithers quietly below the nearby crest of Doi Suthep Mountain and a tangerine sun peeks over the craggy summits to announce a new day.
As you soar through the sky, you will doubtless catch a sight of the nearby Mae Rim range of mountains. It is a superb way of watching the Kingdom of Smiles wake up; farmers wave, dogs yap madly as they follow the balloon across the emerald fields, white buffalo peer up, rigid with astonishment.
Vertigo-sufferers and air-balloon novices need not worry; the British-made balloon's movement is so gentle, many first timers have compared it to riding in a lift. Unlike airplanes, the balloon rises smoothly from the ground. The basket provides comfortable reassurance, with your feet firmly on its solid base.

SINGAPORE- Romancing the Past.
Raffles Hotel, a designated national monument has long been Singapore's major landmark. Immortalized by writers and patronized by every one which includes Charlie Chaplin, Noel Coward, Douglas Fairbanks and Somerset Maugham, their antics are chronicled in the Raffles' Museum, a fascinating array of memorabilia which brings to life the hotel named for Stamford Raffles, the founder of Singapore.
Rudyard Kipling visited Singapore on a round the world trip in 1889, just a year and a half after Raffles Hotel opened its doors to the world. In the account of his journeys titled From Sea to Sea, published in 1889, Kipling wrote, "Raffles Hotel! where the food is excellent; Let the traveler take note: Feed at Raffles."

Malaysia- Culinary Delights
A traditional wooden house is set on a hillside and is surrounded paddy fields. Built from hardwood grown locally, the house is raised high on stilts embellished with wooden carvings.
Pick up some of the herbs as you reach the house. In line with ancient Malaysian belief that everything has a soul, a handful of earth from your birthplace must be "married" with the land here. Then the villagers were invited to raise the main pillar which contains the "soul" of the house. The kitchen always faces the morning sun. If you take a closer look at the window shutters and fascia boards, you will see patterns of long beans, star anise, coconut palms, pineapples and betel nuts.
To get the starch out and to ensure each grain remains separate, you wash the rice until the water runs clear. Then measure the height of the rice in the pot with your finger, add the same height of water, and you will never go wrong.Spices are saut`ed to bring out their flavor, then ground, and made into paste that is added to shallots, ginger, and garlic. The spice mix is then cooked and when the oil separates, you finally add the meat.
Cooking is like a tree. The roots are the ginger, shallots, garlic, while galangal and turmeric form the marinade. Then there is bark in the form of cinnamon, and flowers such as cloves, star anise, seeds-coriander, pepper, and cardamom.
Eventually you will reach the tree's fresh tips and the ingredients that are eaten raw, known as salads.
Experience this Soulful Culinary Delight on your site visit to Malaysia!

Banquet at the Red Mansion
In the mid-1980s, CCTV established a TV program called, "Dream of the Red Mansion, the Chinese version of Romeo and Juliet, albeit Chinese style with a very unusual twist. As a prominent family that produced public officials, life was one of ostentation and extravagance. The novel details love, family feasts, large and small, and grand banquets.
Imagine as you walk to your venue, the silhouettes of willow trees bordered a winding moat and stone arches were hung with glowing red lanterns. At the entrance to the restaurant, a woman in full court regalia, including an elaborate headdress will greet you and your participants. Walking through an archway framed by two miniature elephants you will enter a marble courtyard. Once in the dining room, the golden domed ceiling and large lantern-shaped chandelier will dazzle you.
After hearing a brief introduction from a passage from the novel, settle into the ambience of the novel's environment. Participants sit in carts and sedans and are accompanied by a large number of attendants holding flags with patterns of the dragon and phoenix, canap`es and horsetail whisks followed by a procession of people and chariots.
The banquet begins with the introduction and service of dishes in red lacquer boxes.Note that the various dishes are the most interesting part of the novel. Each course of the banquet is specially designed and based on the descriptions in the classic story. Every dish symbolizes an allusion or a wonderful passage from the novel. In the background the band strikes up Chinese classical music from the play.

Available daily, participants learn the major "trigger points" while enjoying a 60 minute treatment.

Sars and Air Travel - Fact or Fiction.
The following is the full statement by the Association of Asia Pacific Airlines director general, Mr. Richard Stirland, dispelling fears about air in aircraft cabins:
"The public have still not got the message that the air in aircraft cabins is probably safer than anywhere else.
As many of our members have reported, and we know by anecdotal evidence, the traveling public has become non-travelers due to the misconception that the chance of acquiring SARS is greater on an aircraft than elsewhere. This is principally as a result of lack of knowledge regarding air circulation in the cabin.
In reality, as both the airlines and the aircraft manufacturers have stressed, the air in the aircraft cabin is, on average, changed every three minutes. Moreover, the air is a mix of fresh air drawn from outside the aircraft, and air that has passed through very efficient filters, which provide an environment that is as sanitized as a hospital operating theatre.
This information has been disseminated widely, but is still not as well known as it should be.
What is even less well known, but of equal or even greater importance, is that air supplied to aircraft toilets and galleys is not re-circulated even in a filtered form, but is expelled from the aircraft.
A further point to stress, which passengers can see for themselves, is that air vents are at the level of overhead stowage bins, extraction is at floor level. Air is thus drawn down, not up, and most importantly, there is no longitudinal flow of air through the cabin.
It is vital to get this message across to the public, and indeed to government authorities, otherwise the airlines will be suffering from disastrous load factors long after the epidemic is over. Travel by air does not increase the risk of contracting this infection."
Be strong and be well.

Smelling of Roses.
As far back as 8th BC, the ancient Greeks grew roses for an eight-day summer celebration, an event that later was adopted by the Romans around 35 AD.Rose cultivation developed slowly at the end of the 16th century, spurred on by the introduction of tea-and, not as well known, perennial roses-from China to both Southeast Asia and Europe. But worldwide fascination with roses was ignited by Josephine, Empress of Napolean. By the late 19th century, rose breeding had spread into Thailand.
"Red Roses are supposedly tinted by the blood of Aphrodite, who was wounded by thorns that separate her from Adonis. In Asia they were born from a voluptuous smile."
As I woke up in Chiang Mai-northern Thailand, known for its booming trade in the fragrant bloom, sunlight laden voices float on the morning air, merging with melodic birdsong and acting as a catalyst for the dogs, who begin to howl. All I can see are vague human shadows moving around, framed by the darkened hills. I am greeted at the roadside by thousands upon thousands tiny rosebuds, comprising a huge flower plantation.
Again the music comes following the sounds deep into the field of roses, where peels of laughter at last reveal the mysterious musicians. Young woman laughing, joking and singing, the sounds emanating from deep inside. Upon spotting an intruder, they stop, crease their eyes and begin to giggle quite hysterically. Periodically, they hide behind the roses their straw hats bobbling up and down like nodding donkeys, only to appear once more to point and laugh before they disappear. They really have the sweetest faces.
Have your THEME DINNER at the ROSE GARDEN. Your company's logo made from roses will be given to each participant!Want something more spectacular ? How about riding an elephant during cocktails ?

"China - Imperial Banquet"
D uring the Ming and Qing dynasties, the emperors lived and worked in the Forbidden City. This is where the royal kitchen researched special recipes in an attempt to prolong the lives of the emperors including dietary supplements and where imperial food preparation originated.
The luxurious banquets featured the best flavors, excellent cooking and nice- sounding names. In the courtyard, guests gather to await the arrival of the emperor. Drinks are served with tasty buns and dumplings, while guests watch the master calligrapher, noodle maker and shadow cutter displaying their skills while waiting for the host played by a child. The palaces of the Ming and Qing dynasties were decorated in magnificent yellow and red. The yellow implies authority and power while red represents happiness and prosperity.
To the strains of traditional Chinese music, a sumptuous nine course banquet of exquisite delicacies is served by waitresses dressed in Qing imperial costumes. One dish is made from the whiskers of 100 fishes, while another dish is made by spreading bird's nest on the ends of bean sprouts. Each diner had his or her own waitress to meet every need. Tableware and cutlery made of gold, and traditional imperial court music and dancing keep the diners entertained.

"PAINTED FACES"
The Peking Opera is a pure Chinese opera form, which dates back to the year 1790. The roles in Peking Opera include male and female roles, painted-faces, and clowns. Legends and stories from history make up the repertoire.

HE WHO IS MADE KING
Malaysiahas a unique system of alternating the role of paramount ruler. What sounds like a recipe for conflict and family feuding has in fact served the country well. This unusual scheme of power sharing began with independence in 1957. Malaysia was set to have a prime minister and parliament. Out of 13 states in Malaysia, only nine states have hereditary rulers called Sultan. Which of these sultans or rajahs would play the role of the constitutional monarch? The Conference of Rulers would elect one among themselves to reign as the Yang di-Pertuan Agung (Malay for "he who is made king"), for a five year period, after which time another would be chosen. The couple would reside at the royal residence in the Istana Negara, the National Palace in Kuala Lumpur.
A few minutes from here is Kuala Lumpur's Shangri-La Hotel. Word has it that just as construction was drawing to a close for this hotel, a Feng Shui master made the startling announcement that the deluxe hotel had been built directly on top of the lair of a pair of fearsome dragons. The architects were advised to install a ball shaped fountain facing the entrance so that the creatures would be entertained and would not interfere in the business. True to the shrewd man's prediction, the dragons have maintained a low profile and business has flourished.
Fifteen years later this 720 room hotel, located in the commercial heart of the city, is still the pride of Kuala Lumpur having undergone a $20 million refurbishment in the public areas namely the hotel's lobby, cutting edge restaurants and modernization of the rooms. Stay at the Kuala Lumpur Shangri-La and be treated like a king in your Site Visit to Malaysia.

THE GRAND LANNA
The Le Grand Lanna is located in an enchanting compound of old teak homes, surrounded by a small wooden styled village of raised houses in 20 acres of beautiful gardens and ponds. The houses are raised to avoid moisture and to provide shelter for the livestock. In these villages, as in a resort, houses are often connected by wooden walk-ways. Le Grand Lanna is not merely a restaurant, but also a romantic cultural experience. Upon arrival, each top performer will be welcomed by staff in Lanna costume and presented with a fragrant jasmine garland to complete their own northern Thai costumes. Colorful Thai lanterns decorate the pool terrace and abundant floral displays in the northern style are featured both in and around the pool.
As a fitting climax to the evening, everyone will be invited to launch their very ownKom Loys. A Kom Loy is a small lantern shaped hot air balloon made of Saa paper with bees wax or colorful cellophane, glued to a bamboo frame. A flame at its base when lighted, will lift it slowly into the night sky. After a cascade of fireworks that ignite at the commencement of its journey, it will take its place among a galaxy of manmade stars. It is said that those who hold a Kom Loy just before it floats away will see the end of the bad and the beginning of the good !

Be an Emperor for a Day
As early as the Ming Dynasty, a four-fold architectural configuration evolved to become what is the city of Beijing, today. The area south of the Qianmen Gate is the outer city.Directly north of the Qianmen Gate is the inner city followed by the area within both sides ofthe TianAn Men Gate being the royal city. Finally the area within the Meridian Gate four angular towers is the Forbidden City. The GRAND HOTEL is directly located within the Forbidden City, with the red wall in front of the hotel being part of the former royal city wall.
The Emperor's Suite recreates the luxuriance of the Qing Dynasty chambers. It occupies two floors. However inside the suite, carved beams occupy the room along with a balcony, painted rafters, and gilt jade mosaics. The room is illuminated by the glow of the imperial yellow light that streams from the sun as well as extravagant bright golden colors from the various palace lanterns that are designed with dragons and phoenix patterns of various sizes. The room's large collection of porcelain and cloisonn scrolls and paintings give the feeling of fullness as if you are staring at the shadow of the past dynasties.
Top off your reward trip as a Chinese emperor, served by waitresses in royal costume. As a keepsake, pictures can be taken in an emperor's attire on the royal throne, complete with court music and a dance performance.

Team Building - Buffalo Race
T he dust has barely settled on the flattened-earth strip of a drained paddy field when a whistle breaks the morning haze. Suddenly, out of a crowd of villagers, a line of water buffalo comes thundering through the dirt. Atop each one is your employee-frantically coaxing his beast towards a makeshift finishing line drawn on the ground 100 meters or so down the field.
The boisterous crowd, consisting of 200 villagers, starts shouting. The darkest buffalo is gaining on the lighter one; in a flurry of old dirt and flying mud the trailing water buffalo breaks through, greeted by cheers from the onlookers. They race on. The darkest buffalo charges over the finishing line. This is TEAM BUILDING THAILAND STYLE!
