“China – Imperial Banquet”
During the Ming and Qing dynasties, the emperors lived and worked in the Forbidden City. This is where the royal kitchen researched special recipes in an attempt to prolong the lives of the emperors including dietary supplements and where imperial food preparation originated.

The luxurious banquets featured the best flavors, excellent cooking and nice- sounding names. In the courtyard, guests gather to await the arrival of the emperor. Drinks are served with tasty buns and dumplings, while guests watch the master calligrapher, noodle maker and shadow cutter displaying their skills while waiting for the host played by a child. The palaces of the Ming and Qing dynasties were decorated in magnificent yellow and red. The yellow implies authority and power while red represents happiness and prosperity.

To the strains of traditional Chinese music, a sumptuous nine course banquet of exquisite delicacies is served by waitresses dressed in Qing imperial costumes. One dish is made from the whiskers of 100 fishes, while another dish is made by spreading bird's nest on the ends of bean sprouts. Each diner had his or her own waitress to meet every need. Tableware and cutlery made of gold, and traditional imperial court music and dancing keep the diners entertained.

This is just a sample of stylish off-site dinner activity that GTB can arrange for you and your clients. Enjoy an Imperial Banquet on our SITE VISIT to China in August, 2003
